Through a naturalist’s eyes

There is a very pleasant walk through the village that takes you on a footpath into an old meadow. It lies in a dip and is surrounded by high hedges, trees and pleasant buildings like the church and its attendant old rectory. They blot out most traces of new development, and the scene is one that has hardly changed from the time when the village was no more than a farming community.
