“The thought of the first plunge into the water brings to mind Lady Macbeth: ‘But screw your courage to the sticking-place And we’ll not fail’. I don’t think I am alone in this. Yet, once in, the water’s lovely. We all enjoy the stimulation of splashing around and progressing by a different form of locomotion. To be able to swim is a great convenience, and especially useful in emergency.”
