Habitat management news

Substantial areas of grassland generally surround the runways on airfields and airports. Unfortunately, the birds attracted to these grasslands create a serious risk of bird strikes to aircraft. A common response to this problem has been to encourage the growth of long grass (15-20cm) by the application of fertiliser in spring, and frequent topping throughout the year.
