The European Forum on Nature Conservation and Pastoralism has its origins in 1988, at a meeting in Wales centred on the conservation of the Chough, Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorx, subsequently widening in scope first to bird conservation and pastoral agriculture, and then to nature conservation and low-intensity, high biodiversity farming in Europe.
