Through a naturalist’s eyes

"The two most abundant species at my birdfeeders are Chaffinch and Greenfinch. A mixed flock swarming after a meal of seeds is extremely pleasing to the eye. It is only a pity that they are never joined by Goldfinches. I often simply enjoy watching the kaleidoscopic colour and movement, especially in late winter males' plumage is at its best."
