A recent article in Biological Conservation reports on the techniques used to develop an integrated land-management strategy for the restoration of moorland dominated by Purple Moor-grass Molinia caerulea. British heather moorlands are internationally significant ecosystems, and one percieved threat is an increase in grasses, especially Molinia, at the expense of dwarf shrub-heath species such as Heather Calluna vulgaris.
