Identification: British Tiger-beetles

Tiger-beetles are some of our most charismatic insects. They are diurnal, sun-loving hunters of warm, open habitats such as heathlands, sand dunes and soft-rock cliffs. A metallic flash of colour is often the first indication of their presence as one takes to the air at your feet, and then appears to vanish as it settles again a few metres away.
